I
apologize for the lack of posts lately. You would think that my current
unemployed status would mean that I have more time and energy to blog, but
unfortunately this has not been the case. Actually, it has been the exact
opposite! Never in my life have I ever been so unmotivated and
uninterested in anything and everything. Don't get worried about me or anything - it was all
intentional.
When
I was just 14 years old I started working. I've done everything - and I mean
everything! Making cappuccino’s and espressos, scooping Italian ices,
bartending, promotional work, manning a lotto machine and cash register,
selling tickets at Yankee Stadium, and secretarial work are just a handful of
the many hats I've worn. When I turned 27 years old this past July, I looked
back and realized that I have never had more than one week off. If I quit a
position it was because I already had something better lined up that I was
starting immediately. I always had a job and therefore never had a break. Many
times I've even worked two jobs. Then there were those times where I was
working two jobs AND going to school. I won't lie to you and say it was easy
because it certainly wasn't. I honestly think that pushing myself to always do
so much has taken a serious toll on me. When I left my job in August, I was
finally able to see this.
For once in my life I had the chance to give myself a serious break from the world. I was able to shut off my phone, barely check my e-mails, go somewhat MIA on Facebook, and basically be completely irresponsible and, well…not do anything at all. And I mean anything! Which is exactly why I have all of these gorgeous items piled up just waiting to be photographed, posted, and most importantly - worn.
Now
that I've spent almost two months being lazy, I decided that my
vacation is officially over. It's time for me to start getting up and doing
something productive every day. For starters, I am going to do my best to catch up on all the reviews I need to post. After that, I decided that I want my blog to take
a new direction - the way I had envisioned it from the start. I don't want Shoes
and Jules to only be full of shoe reviews and tips about deals. I need to take advantage of my free time and give this blog my all!
When
I started S&J in March I began carrying around a notebook so that I could
write down every single idea that I had. This worked well for me in the sense
that I now have a list of every idea and topic that I have considered writing about. The
thing is, I was always so busy that I never really had the time to sit down and act on these ideas or write any creative posts. Over the next few weeks I will be going through this notebook and
testing out different features such as outfit posts, how to's, and much more. I
will be trying out different types of articles and would like your feedback on what you want to start seeing more or less of.
This blog will continue to focus on shoes, but I want to start showing you a little more of the Jules. You will find out more about who I am, see me transition through this new chapter in my life, and follow me on my journey to find a job that I truly love and am passionate about!
